Yenworthy 2016

 Yenworthy News

Monday 28th November

After the long journey down to Yenworthy Lodge the children found their rooms and had their lunch. It was then time to start the activities. During the afternoon they tackled the low ropes course and in the evening they went for a night walk on Exmoor. It was a clear night and they saw shooting stars. The weather looks very promising for surfing and they hoping to do a waterfall climb tomorrow.

Tuesday 29th November

They have had a busy day in North Devon. It was a cold but dry and bright day so the children needed lots of layers. They did an activity called Outdoor Business and each group made thousands of pounds by problem solving and overcoming challenges. However they decided not to do the waterfall climb today as they didn't think they could manage to get 28 icicles back up the hill to the lodge!

There were two birthdays today - Millie and Ted. Both kindly brought cake so everyone is extra full tonight. Ted's mum also had an inspired idea and sent 30 mini light sabres, these were very useful for orienteering this evening.
They are missing Callum, who has gone home due to being unwell and hope he feels better soon.

Wednesday 30th November

They have had a brilliant day today.  Two groups surfed and they had perfect conditions.  Millie and Jasmine proved to be experts, but most people managed to stand for a couple of seconds.  Both the air and the sea seemed warmer than the only other time we’ve done surfing, which was June.
It was cold afterwards, but we were warmed with hot squash.  The other group turned out to be excellent rock poolers, finding a multitude of crabs, fish, strawberry anemones and even starfish.  They also went coasteering an scaled the climbing wall.  We swap tomorrow.
