Dr Sarah Bearchell,
Associate Governor, Science Governor

All three of my children are currently at Garsington. I became a governor mainly to support science learning but I am also a member of the Curriculum Committee. This role has taught me a tremendous amount about how the school works.
I am a professional Science Presenter; specialising in pre-school, primary and SEN. In 2014 I won a national award for my innovative science engagement methods. As part of my job, I visit lots of different educational settings and I find this gives me a useful perspective on the issues faced by our school. I also volunteer as a STEM Ambassador, taking science, technology, engineering and maths to a wider audience. In 2014, I started the free lunchtime Year 6 Science Club and in 2015 will run an after school science club for the first time.
Our pupils have an incredible enthusiasm for science and it’s something I’m really keen to nurture. I have found they rise to every challenge we set, particularly if we make a mess!
