Lots of things to do in Maths this term! We will be looking at:
Number patterns and relationships
Written calculation methods for addition and subtraction
Identifying 2D shapes
Rotation and Direction
Reading and Writing the Time
Spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning
In PSCHE we are taking a look at how we create our own identities and as part of Anti-Bullying Week we are focusing on eSafety.
In French with Mr Brassington we will be looking at pets, numbers to 40 and festivals.
In literacy, we are looking at how information can be found and used in different kinds of written text as well as their key features. We will also be exploring how to create powerful imagery in poetry and have a go at journalistic recounts.
Our spelling focus this term is on different suffixes and how can they change root words. There is also guided reading sessions and joining up our letters in handwriting practice.
Historical, geographical and social
Having looked at the rise of the Roman Empire in Europe, we will be taking a closer look at how Romans conquered Britain and what they left behind for us when they were finally defeated. We will be practising Roman Army drills with our Roman shields and be putting together a fact-filled presentation all about Roman history.
Understanding Physical Development
Mr Harrison will be continuing invasion games with Year 4 with Tag Rugby on Tuesdays and on Wednesdays we will be looking at gymnastic skills and performances.
With the weather turning wetter and colder, appropriate clothing and footwear is required for outdoor activities. If it is not raining we WILL be outside!
Scientific and technical understanding
We are looking at different materials and their properties. We will be investigating the usefulness of materials and how they are best suited for different jobs and situations.
Understanding the Arts
In Art with Ms Wells, we are continuing with our mosaics and, in time for Christmas, we will be making festive decorations and ornaments to celebrate the holiday season.
