Dear Parents and Carers,
Our topic for this term is ‘Islands. ’ The children will be learning about the human and geographical features of different island types and using this as a stimulus for their learning across the curriculum. For further details please see the topic web.
PE will be on Mondays and Tuesdays this term. Please make sure that your child has the appropriate kit including tape for earrings (if ears have been pierced within the last 6 weeks and studs cannot be removed) and trainers for outdoor sessions.
Children should have a water bottle in class.
Homework will be given out on Fridays and should be completed and handed in by the following Wednesday. Maths homework will continue to be set and completed online. Please continue to hear your child read on a daily basis and to record this in their reading record. Your child can change their books whenever they need to. Please encourage them to do so. To help your child to further develop their mathematical, reading and writing skills, including them in real-life situations such as shopping, cooking, writing lists, reading signs and labels, etc., would be very beneficial.
We will continue with our Show and Tell rota for terms 3 and 4. Please encourage your child to bring in one of the following to share with the class: something that they have created themselves (e.g. a model, a Lego construction, a picture, a story); a certificate, badge, medal or cup that they have earned (e.g. for swimming, football, Brownies or Beavers); or a souvenir from an outing (e.g. a visit to a museum, a trip to the seaside) - something they have found is as good as something they have bought!
Please use the School Newsletter for keeping up-to-date with other events this term. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us either at the end of the school day, or by telephone or email via the school office.
With best wishes
Clare Allan, Emily Scaldwell and Gaynor Shepherd
