Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year!
Our topic for this term is ‘Up, Up and Away. ’ The children will be learning about flight and the history of aviation and using this as a stimulus for their learning across the curriculum. For further details please see the topic web.
PE will be on Mondays and Tuesdays this term. Please ensure that your child has their full PE kit on these days otherwise they will not be able to take part. Tracksuit bottoms / leggings and a sweatshirt are also needed for these colder months. For safety reasons, please remember to either remove your child’s earrings on PE days or ensure they have a small container in which to place the earrings, if they are capable of removing them themselves. If ears have been recently pierced, your child will need tape to cover them.
Children should have a water bottle in class.
Homework will be given out on Fridays and should be completed and handed in by the following Wednesday. Maths homework will continue to be set and completed online. Please continue to hear your child read on a daily basis and to record this in their reading record. Your child can change their books whenever they need to. Please encourage them to do so.
Term 3’s Show and Tell rota will be sent out shortly. Please encourage your child to bring in one of the following to share with the class: something that they have created themselves (e.g. a model, a Lego construction, a picture, a story); a certificate, badge, medal or cup that they have earned (e.g. for swimming, football, Brownies or Beavers); or a souvenir from an outing (e.g. a visit to a museum, a trip to the seaside) - something they have found is as good as something they have bought!
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us either at the end of the school day, or by telephone or email via the school office.
With best wishes
Clare Allan, Emily Scaldwell and Gaynor Shepherd

Dear Parents and Carers,
As I am sure you know, I will be returning to teach Year 2 at the beginning of Term 3.
Mrs Allan has told me that Year 2 are a fantastic class and I am very much looking forward to working with your lovely children and also the Year 2 team, whom I have previously worked with before taking my maternity leave.
Mrs Allan and I have had a number of detailed hand-over meetings. However, please feel free to speak to me if there is anything you feel I should know.
I would like to thank Mrs Bruce for beginning the year’s teaching and settling the children into Year 2 so well.
I look forward to meeting you all next week.
