Y1 Class Newsletter

Term 3 - January 2016

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to wish you all a very Happy 2016! We hope you all had a lovely festive season and that you feel relaxed and ready for the year ahead.

Staff
Class teachers: Mrs Perry (Monday – Wednesday morning) and Mrs Flannery (Wednesday afternoon – Friday); Mrs Bruce will cover PPA time on Wednesday from 10.30 – 12.00

Teaching assistants: Mrs Hales (all day), Mr Guy (every morning as well as Monday and Friday afternoon), Mr Willbery (Tuesday and Thursday afternoons).

Helping your child

It would be very beneficial if you could share a book with your child every evening.

To help your child develop their mat

hematical, reading and writing skills it would be helpful for parents to include their child in ‘real life’ situations such as shopping, cooking, sorting, writing lists and cards, reading environmental prints eg. signs and labels etc.

We will continue to send home the yellow Home Activity book on Friday and ask for it to come back to school by the following Wednesday.

Reminders
PE continues to take place on Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit. Long hair will also need to be tied back and earrings covered or removed.

The weather is still very wet and may get colder. Please make sure your child always has a coat with them. We do send them out to play even if it is a bit drizzly! If your child has wellies, they are someimes allowed on the playing field at break times. Please remember hats and scarves especially if the weather gets colder than it has been recently.

Book bags & water bottles
All pupils are asked to bring a named book bag to school daily in which to carry their homework, reading books, letters home etc. Please also provide your child with a filled water bottle (water only please).

Communication
We will communicate with you via letters in book bags and via Parentmail. We will also use reading record books to communicate information for an individual child, particularly if you are not going to collect your child at the end of the school day. Please always check reading record books.

We also put general notices on the window by the Year 1 door.

Should you wish to talk to either of the class teachers, please come and ask us for a mutually convenient time.

Best regards
Mrs Perry & Mrs Flannery
