FS Update 8.12.17

Foundation Stage Update 8th December 2017

Value of the term: Enthusiasm

This week we have been learning about the Christmas story and why Christmas is celebrated. The children came across lots of new words whilst reading the story, we then put these words on our traffic lights. We have had some great discussions about what the words mean and whether we understand them or if we need more time to get used to using them. I have been really impressed with the listening skills that the children have demonstrated this week. We have been working on listening to other people and building upon their ideas, making sure we are not repeating what someone has already said.

In our maths we have been counting on and back from a number and using numicon to find new ways of making a total. I have been impressed with the independent maths that the children are doing.

We have spent a lot of time this week rehearsing for our Christmas play and are looking forward to showing it to you next Wednesday and Thursday. The children have been practising the songs and have tried really hard to remember all the words.

Reminders and notes

Class trip- Our class trip is on Tuesday. We will be leaving school just after registration and returning before the end of the school day. All children will need a packed lunch and a water bottle. They will have to carry their own lunch onto and off the coach.

Christmas play-Please remember to order your tickets for one of the performances. These are on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th December at 2pm in the school hall. Once the play has finished all children will need to return to the classroom and get changed into their school uniform. Parents can then pick up from outside the classroom door as normal. Please bear with us as it takes quite a bit of time to make sure all the children are changed back into their school uniform and costumes are hung back up ready for the next performance.

Christmas jumper day-Next Friday is Christmas jumper day. Children can come to school in Christmas jumpers.

Next Friday is Christmas lunch. Please make sure you have returned the order form so the kitchen know how many lunches to cook.

Christmas party-We will be having our class Christmas party on Monday 18th December in the afternoon. We will play games in the hall with the year 1 and 2 children.

End of term-School finishes at 1.15pm on Tuesday 19th December.

Thank you for your continued support
