Foundation Stage Weekly Update - 15th July 2016
Words of the week: health, safety
This week has been a busy health and safety week and we have had lots of visitors in school. We started our week thinking about all the things that we need to keep us healthy and safe. Throughout the week we have had various workshops, including dog safety, internet safety, a karate session and a talk from the Fire brigade. We have also enjoyed talking about healthy lunches and our favourite fruits and vegetables. Do ask your child about what they have enjoyed this week and what they can tell you about keeping themselves safe and healthy.
This afternoon the children are taking part in race for life and I know that they will really enjoy it and do themselves proud. I am looking forward to hearing all about it when I return to school on Tuesday.
We have been making the most of our news doors this week and have really enjoyed the better weather and the freedom of our new free flow between the outside area and our classroom. I have been really impressed with the children’s problem solving and team work. They have spent lots of time building dens and making use of all the equipment in order to do so. It is fantastic to see how well all the children get along with each other and work as part of a team to achieve a common goal. They have really demonstrated that they are Red Kite learners.
Last Friday we enjoyed observing our new butterflies and were lucky enough to hold them before they spread their wings and flew off to explore. This week the children have enjoyed looking out for the butterflies and drawing pictures for them.
Reading books-Please could you check at home and return any reading books or school books that you may have borrowed over the course of the year.
Monday- Mrs Bruce will be teaching the class all day because I am out doing home visits.
Tuesday- Sports day and family picnic. We will need helpers to walk to and from the sports field with us. Please send your child to school in their P.E kit on Tuesday and with a water bottle.
Wednesday- Due to sports day being postponed our end of year teddy bears picnic will now be on Wednesday morning. All children can bring a teddy bear and some food to share with the rest of the class. Please see the sign-up sheet on the class doors. School will finish at 1.15pm.
Thank you for all your support this year. We hope that you and your child have enjoyed this year as much as we have. Your children have worked incredibly hard and it really has been a pleasure to teach them and watch them develop and mature. They are a fantastic class and are always enthusiastic and eager to learn. We will miss them all but know that they will continue to work hard and will thrive in year one. Don’t forget to come and say hello to us.
Have a wonderful summer break. School returns on Monday 5th September.
