Foundation Stage Weekly Update ~ 10th March 2017
Personal, Social and Emotional development
We have tried really hard to demonstrate kindness this week. This could be by helping to tidy up the classroom, helping a child when they are hurt or using kind words when talking to each other. It has been wonderful to see the children beginning to embrace this and really demonstrating that they are understanding our red kite values.

Communication and Language
We have had some great conversations this week about how the things that we could do as babies and the things that we have learnt to do as we have grown up. The children are now able to confidently share their ideas with the class and enjoy hearing the ideas of others.

Physical development
In our PE sessions this week we have continued to practise our ball skills and these are really improving. It has also been fantastic to see just how much quicker the children are at getting changed now, this means we are able to have much longer PE sessions.

In our phonics lessons we have been writing words and sentences using fred talk. In our writing task we have been trying hard to write in sentences about how we have changed since we were babies. At the moment we are working on ensuring that we form our letters correctly, hear and write the first sound in a word

We have been measuring this week and have talked about the size of different objects and compared them. The children are beginning to use the correct mathematical language to talk about what they are doing.

Expressive art and design
We finished off our space display this week by making some 3D planets and glittery stars. We have also enjoyed being creative at the art table and have spent extended periods of time creating our own art work.

Understanding the World
This week we have been talking about all the ways that we have changed since we were babies. The children were really enthusiastic and keen to look at their baby photos and talk about how different they look now.

Please make sure you have received the letter about our class trip to the story museum.

Please make sure your child returns their homework by Thursday each week.

When your child is ready for a new reading book please return both the reading book and the reading record to an adult in the class. We will then change their book and return it to you via their book bag that day.

Mrs Bruce will be teaching the class all day.
We will be thinking about how we have changed since we were babies and will be looking at our baby pictures.
Please make sure your child has a named baby photo in school next week.
